Life is about choices... Why should fitness be any different?

Cardio and Leg Work Out All In One

Using a stationary bike can be a great cardio workout for your body, but it can be a deadening experience for your mind. I get bored very easily while I am riding my bike, and using my imagination can help me bring some fun and excitement into my workout time. The imagination can take you anywhere you want to be, and far away from the physical exertion of a workout. I sometimes visualize an exotic little village in Tuscany, with the aromatic smells in the air and the tang of the salt air on my lips from the sea nearby. This technique works so well for me that I sometimes extend my workout just to spend more time in my imaginary place.

The workout is so easy on my joints and other systems that I can cycle for extended periods without having any uncomfortable effects afterwards, like aching knees and feet or shortness of breath. I really like the way my bike can adjust for resistance, because I am not very mechanically inclined, like most of us that are of the fairer gender, and the resistance knob slides smoothly and is easy to use. Trying to adjust my last stationary bike was like trying to move a ten ton weight, so I did not get the full benefit from the old bike. Although you could say I did get a workout just attempting to move the lever, just not the specific workout that I wanted. Smooth pedaling motion makes my new bike a dream to ride and use, and the benefits are definitively worth the little effort my bike requires. Stationary bikes are the equivalent of swimming on land using only your legs, however there is no danger of drowning underneath the water and you don't have to hold your breath for extended amounts of time, which is a benefit as far as I am concerned.
